Praise Him with the Sound: A4 signed print
Creativity, Spiritual Growth
Created: 2011
Praise Him with the strings and flutes.
Praise Him with the sound of trumpets, with the flute and harp, with the timbrel and dance.
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name.
Background:
Music has been called many things, 'the food of love', 'the literature of the heart', 'the shorthand of emotion', 'what life sounds like'.
One of the great things about music is that it can convey emotion and story without words therefore it is universal, it "expresses feeling and thought without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words," (R G Ingersoll). The Voyager spacecraft's carry a disc which contains images and sounds, including music, waiting to be discovered by any passing extra-terrestrials. The words 'To the makers of music - all worlds, all times' were written on the disc, probably more as a statement to the inhabitants of our world rather than any other, but they, and that of music being included on the disc, declares to the universe that music is one of the most important gifts we, as humans, possess. Even where hearing is diminished or lost completely the vibration of a beat can be felt and enjoyed and it's speed or rhythm can convey a simple message.
Although this piece does contain words from the Psalms, the main emphasis is on the pattern and colours of the image. It is intended to be a graphic composition, weaving strands of sound, repeating tunes, some complex, some simple, and throughout all a unifying theme of colours and shapes.

Praise: A4 signed print
Creativity, Spiritual Growth
Created: 2007
Words:
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ
King of endless Glory.
Background: I have always loved this refrain as it so joyous and bold! In the artwork I have shown aspects of the life of Christ, His baptism, teaching, sacrifice and upbringing (according the Jewish laws). There is also symbolism representing Gods' promises and attributes of Jesus.

Watchmen: A4 signed print
Creativity, Spiritual Growth
Words:
My soul waits for the Lord,
More than those who watch for the morning,
More than those who watch for the morning.
Out of the depths I have cried to you, O Lord hear my voice.
With my whole heart I want to praise you, O Lord hear my voice.
If You Lord should mark iniquities
Who could stand?
Who could stand?
I will wait for the Lord, my soul waits
And in His word do I hope.
Background: Based on Psalm 130 these words were written by Larry & Pearl Brick for a song called ‘I Will Wait’ on their 1989 album ‘See-through Servant’. Northumbria Community use the song in their Evening Prayer liturgy (see Celtic Daily Prayer)
