Magnificat: A6 greetings card
£2.25
Words:
My soul magnifies the Lord
My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour
Background:
Artist Mary Fleeson comments that this design is based on the words attributed to Mary, the mother of Jesus, her praises to God for His blessing and wonder at the great responsibility He has given to her.
The figure in ‘Magnificat’ was designed to be deliberately androgenous so that anyone could confidently repeat Mary’s words.
The woven strands rising like incense smoke from the vibrantly coloured figure are prayers coming from all parts of the body to symbolise that prayer is an energetic, body, mind and spirit activity.
The plant drawn behind the wording grows upwards to represent the fruitfulness of a life steeped in prayer and wholly given to God’s purpose.’

More Than Many Sparrows: A4 signed print
Creativity, Spiritual GrowthSo don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:31 (NIV) Background: The song ‘More Than Many Sparrows’ [http://www.andyseveryn.com/video] was written by Andy Severyn who was a leader of the 'Cross Purposes' School Mission Team of the Sion Catholic Community. I owned a much loved tape that included the song after meeting another member of the Schools Team when performing Christian Theatre and Dance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and played it to stretching point! As some songs do, it remained a favourite that I returned to year after year and it was a pleasure to use it as inspiration for my work. Holy Island is blessed to be home to more than its fair share of sparrows too and they are a daily reminder of how much God loves and values each one of us. More Than Many Sparrows (used in the piece and reprinted here with permission) I know a boy who once believed That he was not worth much at all If he passed exams or scored a goal He would win some brief applause Then back again to try again To get some more attention Look at me, can’t you see I just want to be known Those words were mine, but since those days Someone showed me what I’m worth Just the same as any man Or any woman on this earth He died for me to set me free From thinking that I’m not loveable He died for you to say to you “This is what you’re worth…” More than many sparrows More than brightest gold You’re worth more than people tell you So much more than people know Someone put a price on you He said, “You’re worth dying for” Yes, you’re precious in the eyes of the Lord So there’s no need to be afraid That we don’t deserve his love Good or bad, great or small It’s a free gift from above So let him in, let him bring The truth your heart is waiting for Jesus lives, Jesus gives The value of your heart © 1990 A.
