Created: 2015 Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. (John 20:29) Background: To be a Christian is to believe in the seemingly impossible. We don’t have the luxury of being able to actually see and touch and hear the voice of Jesus as the Disciples did, we have to settle for a second hand experience of Jesus, but is that entirely true? Teresa of Avila (1515–1582) sums up how we can experience Jesus today and by doing so see the fruits of the legacy He left. Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world, Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, Yours are the eyes, you are his body. When we willingly behave as Jesus did we meet Him in the people and places, we meet Him in the darkness and the pain and in the joy and the hope of living. It isn’t the same as placing our hand in the crucifixion wounds; or sitting at His feet, listening to His voice and the message He gave; and Jesus knew that His followers would feel that loss.
