The 2024 Lindisfarne Scriptorium Monthly Planner
Everyday LifeThis monthly planner for 2024 includes a page per month view, illustrations by Mary Fleeson, space for Birthdays and Anniversaries, a Doodle Page and Breath Prayer prompts for each month. Mary writes, “Let our prayers be like breathing, as important and life giving... It is said that saying the name of God, YHWH or Yahweh is like the sound of breathing and thus every breath we take repeats the name, calling on the presence of our Creator God in our lives. Prayer is, at its purest, conversation with God, a two-way communication that involves talking and listening. Breath prayers are very short prayers, sometimes just a single word or phrase that can be said in one breath. These breath prayer starters are included in this planner: Thank you... Help me... Be with... Forgive... Grant me Be In... Speak... Show me... Teach me... Be my guide... Protect... Let me be...” This book is staple bound, 1/3rd A4 (9.9cmx21cm) and 32 pages.£6.99 -

Selah: a collection of poems birthed from stillness
Creativity'Selah' is a Hebrew word that appears in many of the Biblical psalms. It is an instruction to the listener to pause and reflect on what has just been sung. This spiritually nourishing collection of poetry was written as Linda Daruvala paused and reflected on Christian retreats and in places of stillness. From poetic paintings of God's creation to a Psalm-like outpouring of her heart to God, Linda echoes the experiences and emotions that are common to many of us in our journey with the Lord.£7.99 -

This is a book that will help pilgrims who are hungry for the Presence of God do just that. There are few books that when I read, I don’t want to put down, fewer still that when I have read, I want to read all over again. Struggling with God: mental health and Christian spirituality
Church & Leadership, Everyday Life, The Inner Journey'Remarkably beautiful and pastoral' JUSTIN WELBY, ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY 'Brimming with wisdom and humanity' DAME SARAH MULLALLY, DBE, BISHOP OF LONDON Struggling with God gets right to the heart of a great predicament for many Christians. When it feels as if our struggles are overwhelming - and our capacity for faith and hope and love is diminished - how is it possible to maintain, never mind nourish, our relationship with God? The truth, as this deeply compassionate volume reminds us, is that Jesus came alongside people wrestling with mental health problems. Many familiar conditions, such as anxiety and depression, and more severe ones, including bipolar affective disorder and schizophrenia, are addressed by the authors here. Dispelling common myths and misconceptions, they explore the impact such mental health disorders can have on individual Christians, Church and society.. Each chapter includes biblical reflections relevant to its theme, prayers, questions to facilitate individual/group study, and pointers to further reading. In short, the book presents a Christian vision of spiritual and mental wellbeing through prayerful struggling with God.£14.99 -

Embracing Rhythms of Work and Rest: from sabbath to sabbatical and back again.
Everyday Life, The Inner JourneyIn our frenzied culture, the possibility of living in balanced rhythms of work and rest often feels elusive. This rings especially true for pastors and leaders who carry the weight of nonstop responsibility. Most know they need rest but might be surprised to find within themselves a deep resistance to letting go and resting in God one day a week, let alone for longer seasons of sabbatical. The journey to a meaningful sabbath practice is slow and gradual, and it is a journey we need to take in community. Sharing her own story of practicing sabbath for the past twenty years, Ruth Haley Barton offers hard-won wisdom regarding the rhythms of sabbath, exploring both weekly sabbath keeping as well as extended periods of sabbatical time. Embracing Rhythms of Work and Rest grounds us in God's intentions in giving us the gift of sabbath, providing practical steps for embedding sabbath rhythms in churches and organizations. Each chapter concludes with "What Your Soul Wants to Say to God," an opportunity to reflect and engage God around your own journey with the material. Sabbath is more than a practice ”it is a way of life ordered around God, an invitation to regular rhythms of work, rest, and replenishment that will sustain us for the long haul of life in leadership. Includes a conversation guide for small groups and communities.£20.99 -

How to Hear God: A Simple Guide for Normal People
Spiritual Growth, The Inner JourneyNothing could possibly matter more than learning to discern the authentic voice of God, but few things in life are more susceptible to delusion and deception. When life falls apart and we need God's comfort; in moments of cultural turmoil when we need God's clarity; facing formidable decisions when we need God's guidance; desiring a deeper faith when we need God to say something, anything, to turn the monologue we call prayer into a genuine conversation. Having addressed God's silence in God on Mute, and then How to Pray in his previous bestseller, Pete Greig is back to bring wisdom and guidance to one of the most pressing and perplexing aspects of universal Christian experience - How to Hear God. Exploring the story of Christ's playful, poignant conversation on the road to Emmaus, Pete draws deeply from the insights of a wide range of Christian traditions. He weaves together the evangelical emphasis upon hearing God in the Bible, and the charismatic commitment to hearing God in the prophetic, with the contemplative understanding of God's 'still, small voice' within.£14.99 -
Prayer In the Night: For those who work or watch or weep
Everyday Life, Seasons of Life, Spiritual Growth, The Inner JourneyHow can we trust God in the dark? Framed around a night-time prayer of Compline, Tish Harrison Warren, author of Liturgy of the Ordinary, explores themes of human vulnerability, suffering, and God's seeming absence. When she navigated a time of doubt and loss, the prayer was grounding for her. She writes that practices of prayer "gave words to my anxiety and grief and allowed me to reencounter the doctrines of the church not as tidy little antidotes for pain, but as a light in darkness, as good news. "Where do we find comfort when we lie awake worrying or weeping in the night?" This book offers a prayerful and frank approach to the difficulties in our ordinary lives at work, at home, and in a world filled with uncertainty.£14.99 -
Candle: A4 Print
Creativity, Spiritual GrowthPrint featuring original artwork by Francesca Ross. Francesca writes: The seed for this design began with the Celtic Daily Prayer Book 2 meditations for Day 3 and Day 31 which are excerpts from William Brodrick's The Sixth Lamentation, and in particular the line 'We have to be candles'. I started with a layout doodled in the notebook I carry round with me. By the time we were on retreat at Nether Springs in February, I had most of the design in place, and the colours worked out, and included a motif from my 'Wings and Waves Celtic Cross' design to tie it in with previous artwork. We had seen the effects of Storm Arwen in toppling trees and taking out power lines, but it seemed to me that that would be nothing compared to a storm at sea, where the squall would not just fill the sky but the sea that the boat rested on would be wild and incredibly dangerous. That led to the design of the border as a surrounding stormy sea, but with the candle flames reaching out into it.£12.50 -

How Not To Be Afraid: Seven ways to live when everything seems terrifying.
Everyday LifeWe live in a time where we seem more afraid than ever. The rise of populism, polarization and aggression in politics, the media and popular culture, and the climate crisis have coincided with the collapse of previously cherished norms and expectations about economic stability, community life, and even the future of the planet. And all this before the pandemic struck. No wonder we are overwhelmed by anxiety. Popular speaker, storyteller and activist Gareth Higgins exposes the root causes of fear and shows how we can break its power through life-giving stories, simple spiritual exercises and practical steps to take as individuals and communities. He contends that it's time to tell ourselves new stories about the world in which we live, stories that will liberate the greater forces of love, courage and joy. Reflecting on his experience of growing up during the Troubles in Ireland, he shares authentic wisdom that can enable us not only to find calm in the storm, but even to calm the storm itself.£14.99 -
